Lemongrass, eucalyptus, orange and bergamot: discover the origin of the Thai aromatic massage and immerse yourself in a world of oriental fragrances.

Thai massage is a traditional therapy that has been practiced in Thailand for thousands of years. It is believed that this massage was developed more than 2,500 years ago by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, a friend of the Buddha —his personal physician— who had a great knowledge of anatomy, the use of therapeutic plants and the medicine.

Most Thai healers believe that Jivaka is the inventor of traditional Thai medicine. He is referred to as ‘Father Doctor’ and is considered the founder of the entire system of thought and philosophy of Thai massage. Although for many it is a mythological character, it is the first reference in the history of this tradition, and it is the first record of the use of medicinal plants and their aromatic oils to the massage. He is the author from whom all this rich tradition is born.

The Thai aroma massage combines traditional Thai massage and stretching with aromatherapy and the use of essential oils. The Thai aromatic massage is softer than the Balinese massage and its movements cause the superficial part of the skin to increase in temperature due to the improvement in circulation, thus activating blood flow more quickly. It is performed on a massage table with Thai aromatherapy oils such as Lemongrass, eucalyptus, orange and bergamot oils that allow us to create a unique massage experience. Thanks to these aromas we experience a balance of Sen energy lines, leading us to a state of relaxation and peace.

And, just like the meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine that carry Qi or Chi energy, the ‘energy lines’ of Thai Medicine, known as Sen, they travel through the entire body through specific points, which end in the feet and hands. The school of thought founded by Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha believes that the obstruction of this energy flow is the cause of discomfort or disease in a person, and although it is believed that Thai Massage techniques stimulate and open these channels, thanks to the properties of essential oils and aromas, we can obtain all the benefits of plants and harmonize the SEN lines.
