Thai & Bali Massage: a revolutionary fusion

We unite the vigor of Thai massage with the soothing harmony of Balinese massage in a renewing experience.

We all make choices, and at the end of the day our choices make us. Making these choices can sometimes be difficult. Besides, thinking about all the possible options is also exhausting. The same goes for choosing a massage. Although you are looking for a relaxing experience, you also want to undo contractures and take care of your physical health in a deep way. The reverse is also true: a deep tissue massage goes great with a session of disconnection and pampering.

At Thai Spa Massage we made a decision: to create an extraordinary fusion between the intensity of Thai massage and the deep relaxation of Balinese massage. Why choose one style when you can unite the best of two disciplines?

In our revolutionary Thai & Bali massage, the therapists use different levels of force and pressure to create an experience that immerses you in maximum relaxation, significantly reducing the effect of stress on your body. In the first phase of this treatment our masseuses perform the traditional Thai massage passes, where they apply pressure with hands and forearms to unblock some “trigger” points, adding to the pressure of the knees and feet, to undo knots, relieve contractures and get your body to reach the ideal conditions for the second phase, with the greatest of benefits. In this next stage, the body is stimulated with massage passes that spread aromatic oils rhythmically, creating a softer and more comforting sensory scenario. These oils have very beneficial properties for the skin and muscle tissues, and also serve as aromatherapy. In addition, you will be able to choose your favorite oil before starting the treatment.

What are the differences between these two types of massages?

Balinese massage is a full body treatment, great for those who want holistic care. During the treatment, patients should lie down on our massage tables designed and manufactured in Thailand; they are then gently massaged with the essential oil chosen for the session, according to preference and skin type. The areas that have not been massaged and those already massaged are covered, creating a harmony of relaxation thanks to the ideal temperature at all times.

Although Balinese massage can treat tissues in depth if the masseuse finds a knot, the pressure can be adjusted to your preferences. Here, communication is key.

On the other hand, Thai massage is a slightly stronger option. In this type of massage, which we love so much, our Thai masseuses use fingers, thumbs, elbows and even legs to push and pull the body in a solid routine of deep work along the Sen lines. Although some passes are really strong, some users fall asleep during the course of the massage! At the end of the session you will feel great. It is very effective for relieving stress, muscle aches and tension. Especially if you practice any kind of sport that involves permanent physical effort.

Experience the fusion of two cultures

Thai & Bali massage combines the best techniques of Thai ritual with the relaxing approach of Balinese treatment. That is why we have created this meeting point of cultures, where traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine merges with traditional Thai medicine.

The most important influences of Balinese massage are traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine. The system of traditional medicine of Bali was known as the “Jamu”: used by its ample healing properties towards your organism.

Thai Fact!

The architecture and the folklore of Bali are strongly influenced by other Asian countries. Pura Besakih, the biggest and most idolized temple of Bali, which is considered as Mother Temple for Hinduism, is a clear example of this mixture of influences. The Balinese massage itself is marked by Indian, Chinese and Thai practices: in fact, it can be defined as a kind of mixture of different techniques that are harmonized in a unique treatment.

We perform the massages on a Thai massage table and with essential oils. To make the treatment more effective, our therapists use vegetable ingredients such as jojoba, sesame, Thai monoi and coconut oil, as well as scented essential oils such as ylang-ylang and rose oil. Historically, some essential oils used for this type of massage were very rare and could be found exclusively on the island of Bali or, more generally, in Indonesia, such as frangipani essential oil. As a curiosity, this oil is especially appreciated by the Balinese because it improves mood.

In addition, you can take a shower after the treatment in our hydromassage cabins, although we recommend keeping the oil on your skin for a couple of hours to get the benefits of its properties. You also have the alternative of removing the excess essential oil with our scented hot towels, which will leave your skin moisturized and with a pleasant smell.

At Thai Spa Massage we are constantly looking for different techniques and new fusions for you to reach the highest level of relaxation and wellness. Discover this exotic mix of cultures in little Thailand in the heart of Barcelona.
