Kobido massage, for many one of the most effective beauty techniques in the world, was born in Japan more than 500 years ago

Known as the “Japanese facelift,” this massage is not only a celebrity beauty secret, it also promotes better health for your skin.

What is Kobido massage?

Kobido is a manual facial therapy that combines different deep massage techniques, acupressure and quick, rhythmic movements. It is believed that this technique was originally created for Japanese samurai, as a treatment to relieve tension, relieve stress and improve concentration. Over time, Kobido became an exclusive treatment for Japanese royalty, used mainly by empresses to keep their skin young and radiant.

The name “Kobido” literally means “ancient path of beauty,” highlighting its holistic approach to facial care and overall well-being. This term reflects the philosophy that underpins this ancient technique: it is not only a facial massage, but an art that combines beauty and comprehensive health. Its name is also linked to tradition and respect for ancient Japanese practices that seek to balance body, mind and spirit.

Benefits of Kobido massage

Kobido massage has established itself as a natural alternative to invasive aesthetic treatments, standing out for its multiple benefits. Firstly, it offers a rejuvenating effect by improving skin elasticity and visibly reducing wrinkles and expression lines. Its natural lifting effect tones facial muscles, helping to maintain a youthful appearance.

In addition, it improves the luminosity of the face, since by increasing blood circulation, the skin receives more oxygen and nutrients, which translates into a brighter and more uniform complexion. Another of its benefits is the reduction of stress, as this massage not only favors the skin, but also deeply relaxes, relieving physical and mental tension.

Likewise, it prevents aging, since with regular sessions it strengthens facial muscles and prevents sagging, slowing down the signs of aging. Finally, it acts as a natural detoxification thanks to lymphatic stimulation, helping to eliminate toxins and retained fluids, which reduces puffiness and dark circles.

What differentiates Kobido from other facial massages?

Unlike other facial massages, Kobido not only aims to beautify the face but also improves the overall health of the body and mind by combining aesthetic and therapeutic aspects in a single treatment. While many conventional facial massages focus primarily on superficial relaxation or external skin care, Kobido works deeply on the facial muscles, promoting their toning and strengthening to achieve a natural lifting effect. This massage stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation, oxygenating the tissues and eliminating toxins, which gives the face a unique radiance.

Furthermore, the Kobido massage integrates principles of traditional Japanese medicine by working with acupressure points and the body’s energy meridians. This not only balances internal energy (known as ki in Japanese culture) but also reduces accumulated tensions that can affect physical and emotional health, offering holistic benefits that go beyond aesthetics.

Another key difference is its entirely manual nature, which ensures a more personalized treatment adapted to each person’s needs. Therapists trained in Kobido combine fast, rhythmic, and precise movements with slower, more relaxing techniques, allowing for visible and natural results without the need for invasive procedures. In short, Kobido is much more than a facial massage: it is a therapeutic art that cares for the skin, muscles, energy, and overall well-being.
